Partnership Assembly Meeting (PA14): Lima

At PA14, Sri Lanka joined the PMR as the 18th Implementing Country Participant. The PA approved the MRPs of Jordan and Peru and allocated implementation funding.
In addition, PA14 was an opportunity to discuss and obtain feedback on a number of PMR work program- and governance-related matters: i) Project Implementation Status Reports from China, Chile, Costa Rica, Morocco, and Turkey; ii) Annual review of Technical and Policy Analysis Work Programs; and iii) Strategic directions and the next phase of the Partnership.

6. Operations Monitoring System: Update on Progress and Other Operational Matters | ||
The Secretariat presented a brief progress report on overall PMR country activities, and representatives from the Implemeting Country Participants provided updates on the status of their PMR project during an interactive session called the “PMR Exchange Forum.” In addition, representatives from the five countries that prepared their annual Project Implementation Status Reports (ISRs) ahead of PA14 (i.e. China, Chile, Costa Rica, Morocco, and Turkey) responded to questions and provided information on the progress and the lessons learned from the early implementation of their MRP activities. Finally, several other operational matters related to PMR activities in India, Peru, and Tunisia were discussed. | ||

7. Strategic Orientation for the Future of the PMR | ||
As part of the ongoing discussions on strategic orientation for the future of the PMR, the Secretariat revised the proposal for the use of additional funds under the PMR (Note PA14-2016-1). The proposal outlines the scope, criteria, and process for the use of remaining funds under the PMR, to support both the broadening and deepening of PMR activities. The revised version of the proposal that was initially presented and discussed at PA13 in Joran was presented for the PA’s endorsement. | ||

8. Policy Analysis Work Program: Update and FY17 Work Program | ||
At PA12 in Barcelona, the PA endorsed and allocated a budget to continue supporting countries’ efforts to establish post-2020 mitigation scenarios and identify a package of effective and cost-efficient policies—including carbon pricing instruments—to achieve mitigation ambition. Since PA13, several Implementing Country Participants have submitted their EoIs for receiving technical assistance under this work stream. The Secretariat presented the overall progress made under this work stream since PA13 and the proposed work program for fiscal year 2017 (Note PA14-2016-2). | ||

9. Technical Work Program and Knowledge Sharing: Update and FY17 Work Program | ||
The Technical Work Program supports countries on issues that are common across many of them and where they can benefit from technical assistance provided in a comprehensive and programmatic manner. The Secretariat presented the work plan for fiscal year 2017 (Note PA14-2016-3). The session also provided an overview of the latest technical notes and served as an opportunity for knowledge sharing with other countries and sub-national jurisdictions. | ||
